Dawn Jacobsen, shunned by her family for her career choice of being a librarian, also fares poorly in love and turns to romance novels for escape while she works hard at her job as a reference librarian. When the library starts taking interns, their first candidate from the local community college - a young man named Stern Rayner who is studying to be a Library Technician - strikes a chord with Dawn from their similar interests to the fact she does think him attractive even though he's twenty years younger.
