Jim Darnell needed money to start a ranch and build a herd. He could earn in a few months of gold mining what it would take years to earn punching cows. With a pregnant wife waiting for him, Jim set off to make his own good luck in Wyoming. Deadwood Gulch was a boomtown, with nearby claims just beginning to pay off. A few people were making a lot of money; unforunately most people were barely getting by. And there were those whose only business was stealing what others had worked hard to earn. After a while, success was within Jim's grasp, but thieves and murderers were at his heels.
