The Night and the City — Derek Lambert

The story of a youth fleeing from unemployment in Liverpool. He joins the ranks of the homeless and is framed for a crime he did not commit, flung into prison and falls in love with the daughter of a well-heeled uncle. The author also wrote "Angels in the Snow".
