Translated by George Allan England.
"Barely any authors of the massively virile and huge school of present day Spain outline in their work so totally the propensities of the resurgimiento as does Eduardo Zamacois. "Renaissance" is extremely the watchword of his life and abstract yield. This man is a human dynamo, a rejuvenating power in Spanish life and letters, a craftsman who is more than a negligible craftsman; he is a man with a message, a reasoning and a dream; and all these he knows how to dress in an intense, excellent and convincing style, which, however not generally clear, dependably summons. Zamacois sees life, and paints it as it may be, in some cases with humor, frequently with savage, dismembering exactness."
