Melville Davisson Post (1869-1930) was an American author whose best-known creation was Uncle Abner, a character who solved mysteries in 19th-century backwoods Virginia community. This novel is a classic Locked Room mystery, where three men--a judge, a priest, and a doctor--meet to figure out how a dead man found alone in a locked room was killed.
