The Messenger — Russell Smith

This is a fast moving story of strained relationships, drugs, young love, the criminal underworld and escapism in which the author cleverly mixes the real with the surreal. Michael and Tony Geraghty are brothers, but there the similarity ends. Michael is involved in a struggling marriage to the long suffering Beverly, he is disinterested in his business and longs to let out the frustrated writer within.Tony is a weed using layabout who gets his kicks from spray paint and involvement with undesirables. They do have one thing in common, however, they are both going nowhere with their lives. All this changes when 'The Messenger' pays Michael a visit, an event that has a significant impact on both his and Tony's life. The brothers are thrown together by a chain of events which will make or break them. Constantly looking over their shoulders, they journey from one difficulty to another. Their lives become intertwined as they seek the common goal 'The Messenger' has set for them.
