Ivy shot out on the rain-slicked sidewalk. Catching the woman's arm, she said, “You're under arrest for shoplifting. You took a lot of things from the jewelry counter…”

The words were hardly out when the woman lunged. Ivy, caught off guard, tightened her hold. There was a wrench, her free arm was seized, and in a moment she was sprawled on the sidewalk. Her arm was doubled beneath her body…
