Squeezed into a financial bind by the illness that left her father dependent upon her, Sarah Barwick desperately sought a source of income. But as willing as Sarah was, there was just no work in the small town of Longport for a girl with no special qualifications.

And then Sarah hit upon it -- she did have special qualifications. Behind the Barwick cottage was the garage that Chester Barwick had converted to a hobby workshop when his wife was alive. It was in this shop that Sarah had spent her most memorable hours with her mother -- and it was here Sarah had learned the delightful hobby that would now become her livelihood. She would open the shop to the public and take pupils. She'd call in Sarah's Ceramics.

So began the venture upon which Sarah and her father staked their future. It was amazing to Sarah what help a man in a wheel chair could be -- and it was more than heart-warming to see their boarder, lovely Robin Reynolds, pitch in on the project as if the Barwicks' fortunes were her own. Even handsome Lt. Alex Miller, a young man who greatly appealed to Sarah, put his thumb in the pie and helped round up customers.
