Rachel Wyeth, R.N., from Pennsylvania had a special way with children. That's why she was recommended as a private nurse for little Jeremy Wilkes in Somerset, England. Rachel and the motherless boy got along wonderfully. But Jeremy's arrogant father was another matter. Aaron Wilkes did not really want a nurse for his son, just a nursemaid. This difficult yet strangely magnetic man even refused to discuss Jeremy's disease with Rachel. He told her only that it was hopeless. Furthermore, he wanted nothing to do with doctors, though he clearly loved the boy. Rachel knew she would never understand her impossible employer -- or her growing attraction to him. She knew only that somehow, some way, she had to get Jeremy to a doctor -- even if it meant kidnapping him!
