The Littlest Stormrider — Michael Blackthorne

Davibo Nayuda is a smart but very small eight-year-old boy who dreams of being a Stormrider. Stormriders are members of the Elemental Corps, bonded with powerful Elementals; and who protect the Three Kingdoms, though they are falling out of favor as their usefulness wanes. Angel Nayuda, Davibo's father lost his legs in a wild Elemental attack, though the man still has his powerful Earth Elemental to command. Davibo's older sister Lilliandra also called an Earth Elemental. But Davibo's secret dream is to call a Stone Elemental, like the kind that cost his father his legs. The only problem is that Lilliandra hates Davibo and wants him dead. The young boy doesn't understand why, but he can't ignore the facts. The taunts, the bruising, the cruelty were all leading up to something far worse for the eight-year-old. Revealing her ultimate hatred for Davibo, twelve-year-old Lilliandra and her gang of adolescent A-Elementals kidnap Davibo and take him into the desert, giving him a choice: call a wild Elemental or die. But if Davibo calls before he is ten, the Elemental Corps will do worse than kill him-they'll strip him of his only chance to be a Stormrider!
