The Legend of Dark Mountian — Andrew P. Lebel

Paul's mother told him the story of an evil curse when he was young. She told him how the Indians owned the land until the white people stole it. She also told him the ancient emeralds were the eyes of the dark mountain phantom. Paul never believed his mother's story but remembered the tales. He always wanted to explore the mountain just to see if the stories were real. She told him many have hiked the mountain, and many have never returned. The eerie feeling Paul got every time he thought about the mountain, made him more and more anxious to go.
