A young woman from an isolated island off the coast of Cornwall is killed, her body found in a London hotel, in what looks to be a murder/suicide. Is it an isolated incident--or one that hearkens to the dangerous secrets of the mysterious island?

Jack Knight, an American private investigator, travels to the island in search of the killer. And through his journey he meets Keely Cochrane, a sheltered and frightened young woman torn between two very different worlds. Together they must find out who murdered her best friend, even as they struggle against their rowing feelings for one another.
