Witty fiction for children that tackles some serious issues, including dyslexia
Aled is a very warm and likeable boy who lives with his single-parent mom and struggles cheerily with a range of issues. His dyslexia is one; Mr. Snuffles, the neighbor's irritating dog, is another. There's also the question of Geraint, his mom's new friend. Above all else, though, his teacher has announced that there will be a competition to bake and decorate a cake for St. David's Day. How on earth will Aled take part, not being able to follow a recipe and with family finances being tight? Will Geraint be a hindrance or a help? Aled is an inventive, determined character who overcomes difficulties with humor.
