CAROL'S ROOM
had been left untouched since her tragic death, seven years before. Now Jane was in it, wondering if the former owner would object, would resent her presence. She had not wanted to come to Harrel, had protested the assignment as strongly as possible, but in the end her sympathy for a stricken child had overcome all of her objections.
But...there were other inhabitants in this old New England house than the living. Would they too have objections to voice? Would the dead Carol resent the living, breathing woman who had usurped her place...both in the house, and in the family? If so, what would she do...what could she do?
