The Ghost of Island Lake — Ingrid Pelletier

The thrill of the moment was shattered by a piercing noise. Gary shuddered as the sound seemed to grab hold of his backbone and left it prickly and numb. 'What's that?' Deb gasped. 'I'm not waiting to find out,' Lou yelled as she headed for the boat. Out of the corner of his eye, Gary saw Jeff thrashing about in the tall weeds, trying to keep up with her. Gary and Jeff love spending their summers at Island Lake, even if they do have to put up with the constant presences of their sisters. One day, as the boys stand looking at the lake, an old bottle floats by them. Once they had fish it out, they discover it contains a treasure map and instructions that will lead them on a grand adventure. But their quest will take them to Ghost Island, which, as legend has it, is haunted by a fearsome ghost. The island's other inhabitantsa couple shady characters named Satch and Rolloscare the boys almost as much as the thought of encountering a ghost. Once the boys overcome their fears and travel to the island, will they find the secret treasure? Or will they be forced to confront The Ghost of Island Lake?
