The dashing eighth Duke of Haversham who, for reasons not clear, heard Alice's call for help, appeared before her in the flesh.

His wit and wry sense of mischief had not altered in the beyond -- and he decided to play a great joke on the unsuspecting inhabitants of the Hall.

He was determined to make Alice a countess and the rage of London. He did not, however, reckon with Alice's plans.
