The Fourth Day of Fear — Berrie Davis

When lovely Kristy Norwood's adored fiancé, Ross, is killed in an automobile accident, she is consumed by grief. But her suffering turns to suspicion and then horror when she begins receiving letters written by Ross, reassuring her of his love and begging her to join him. Is he alive, or is this some macabre and malevolent plot to torment her? The answer clearly lies with Ross's family, but his brother, Theron, now the heir to the family fortune, is curiously reluctant to aid Kristy in her search, while Ross's father, a bitter and withdrawn man, tell Kristy, “I have only one son.” In fear and frustration Kristy leaves for France to search for Ross at the scene of his accident and triggers a drama which builds to a chilling climax that leaves Kristy fearing as much for Ross's return as she had once grieved for his death.
