The Fire's Center — Bruce Cassiday

Dr. Marcus Welby was visiting a friend's ranch on the coast above Los Angeles when suddenly he spotted smoke rising in the fields. The weather was dry -- dangerous fire weather in Southern California. Despite an immediate call to the Forestry Service, the fire was soon blazing out of control.

Dr. Welby set up a makeshift clinic to treat the men who suffered burns and heat prostration in fighting the fire. But even as the fire raged outside, Welby was discovering in his clinic a danger far greater than that: one of the men had cholera.

And inexplicably that man ran away from the clinic, into the hills…where he could spread a deadly epidemic, unless Dr. Marcus Welby could find him and bring him back in time…
