The Faces of Love — Nan Morrison

There were many faces of love, young Joella Nelson was to find. There was her sister Connie's selfish kind; there was the kind possessed by Joella's older sister, Babs, who had married young and was badly overworked, but who had an inner radiance that nothing could dim because she was married to the man she loved; there was Gracie Shaw's kind of love; Gracie had loved Joella's brother during her very young days and was still waiting patiently for the magic moment when Eric would ask her to marry him.

A new man was helping "R.I.," with the water works this summer. His name was "Red" Bishop, and he had a way with him that was devastating to the girls of Waitsville--in other words, Red had that indescribable quality known as charm. But it wasn't just Red's charm that drew Joella to him; at first, she liked him because he so obviously liked "R.I.," although he was quite out of patience with the woman because she was letting her business go to ruin. Arguing with R.I., he had about decided when Joella appeared on the scene, was wasted effort--and it was just as well for him to move on...
