My book is not about the horrific events that unfolded on September 11, 2001 in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania, it is a story about how these events effected the lives of people who lived hundreds of miles from the epicenters of that day's events. The horrendous actions of the terrorists in the planes that day changed everyone's lives. It affected how people looked at life and how they viewed the future. Some people were fearful, especially during the immediate days that followed. For some, it brought out unseen courage.
The Day That Changed Sam's world is a story about a ten year old girl living an ordinary life in small town Gardiner Maine in 2001. Sam has a great family as well as good friends and neighbors. Everything in her life was as normal as apple pie. Her apple pie world all changed on September 11, 2001. Everything she knew changed. Everyone she knew changed in some way. Gardiner Maine isn't geographically close to New York City, Washington D.C. or even Pennsylvania but the events of that day and the days that followed affected everyone around Sam and in turn affected her. This story is about how a ten year old grew from these experiences and learned to live again.
