Despite having trained as a nurse to satisfy her parents, Susan Taylor had always been single-minded about dancing. Offered the chance to be a featured chorus dancer in the show Penny Parade transferring to New York, she knew it was now or never.
All the more galling then, that after six months she had to consult orthopedic surgeon Dr. Joel Blake about her knees. His advice was stark - stop dancing.
