Bobby Joe Sims was born to a couple who abused narcotics. It took many weeks after his birth to overcome the effects of withdrawal. When abandoned by his father he and his mother became wards of the state. To continue to have money, she entertained men at home. At school, the boy was subject to continuous ridicule. He tried protecting her honor by fighting with schoolmates. Since lack of money was their problem, she had him begin to steal for her. When he was caught, he was placed in juvenile detention and eventually, prison. At seventeen, a County Judge, rather than impose a two year sentence on him, offered an enlistment in the army as a means of avoiding another incarceration. Because of his age, he needed parental approval to enlist. His mother readily signed the papers for him. The only interest he had in life was taking care of animals. After basic training, he was sent to a K-9 unit to become a handler. Before arriving there he commits a crime which is investigated by the FBI. He, and his K-9 dog, Armor, become inseparable. When sent to Iraq they perform heroically. When both receive medical discharges, they work in concert to continue their crime wave.
