The Camera Shy Monster is an entertaining way to help show children that running away is not the answer. Brooke runs away so that she won't have to have her picture taken. She meets Nessie, a friendly sea creature, who also hates having her picture taken. Nessie knows she can't take care of Brooke because little girls don't like to eat seaweed or raw fish. So Nessie comes up with a fun plan to rescue Brooke and get her to enjoy having her picture taken.
Use this story as an opportunity to speak to your child, or grandchild, about the dangers of running away. Who will take care of them? What would they do? How worried would they make everyone?
The Camera Shy Monster is a way to broach the subject and help children understand that it isn't good to run away from their problems or their fears. They just need to learn to talk about them.
