Two geo-chemists, Kitty Cochrane and Gus Wilson, are asked to investigate a possible natural gas reservoir beneath the Scottish estate of Bernard Morris, a London entrepreneur. The gas contains a volatile and dangerous element which could trigger a natural disaster on the scale of Chernobyl. But Morris, because of financial pressure, is determined to drill regardless of the danger. Kitty must be stop him with the help of the estate bailiff, James MacEwan.
