In 1851 seventeen-year-old Erica Curtis and her two older brothers visit the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park. After seeing the illustrated trinket and tobacco boxes on display at the Crystal Palace, Erica is keen to make them instead of the clay pipes by which the family earns its living.
