The Boss is the one running this camp-but I think I'm falling for him. I feel his stare before I see it. He enters the clearing in his bomber jacket and stops in his tracks to stare, to stare until I find the strength to meet his gaze. Shortly afterward, I'm taken from a cabin and placed in a private one. I don't need an explanation to know he made the request. When he steps inside I assume the worst, that he's there to take what he wants without consent. But in fact-he's there's to earn it. He talks to me in front of the fire, gives me the same meals he takes in his cabin, and gives me all the time I need. I confess my darkest secrets, the shame I feel for getting my sister trapped in this horrible place. I tell him I hate myself, hate myself for not being stronger like Raven. But he tells me I'm perfect the way I am. He promises to take care of me. Promises to be everything I could ever need. I used to be terrified of this man-but now I feel safe.
