This is a YA short story (3890 words)...an historical coming of age tale of a young mountain girl of the 1890's.
Lisbeth wants a new long dress which her family cannot afford. Her hand-me-down dress has become too small, and, Lisbeth yearns for a dress made of dimity, with sprigs of blue flowers the same color as her eyes. A long dress, which will signify she has reached a milestone, that she's no longer a little girl but has become a young woman.
