For lovely young Ennis Corbyn, fresh from the quiet life of the English countryside, the glittering London social scene was as dizzying as it was dazzling, as intoxicating as it was enchanting. Gallant young blades courted her, beautiful women openly envied her, and the Prince Regent himself looked on her with favor.
But after every brilliant ball and sumptuous soiree, Ennis had to return to the home of the old noblewoman who had so mysteriously sponsored her entrance into society, and demanded utter obedience in return.
