Carrie Ryan had dealt with her share of difficult clients. As a driver for her father's limousine service, she had braved traffic snarls and foul weather to keep her passengers happy. But she had never encountered a client as demanding as Cameron Alexander.

The wealthy, attractive real estate developer had quite a reputation as a lady's man among Chicago's elite. And yet, as far as Carrie was concerned, Alexander's money and power were no excuse for his humorless disposition and his cold-hearted treatment of his nine-year-old daughter Megan.

With her easygoing manner and sense of fun, Carrie gained Megan's trust immediately. The child's father, however, proved to be a greater challenge. Though Mr. Alexander kept his distance, he insisted on having Carrie as his driver. On occasion, Carrie caught a glimpse of the man beneath the facade, a man with fears and sorrows, dreams and passions.
