After going through a very bad patch. Caroline was thankful to get a job which would give her a whole summer in the South of France. But it was hardly going to help her recovery when almost the first person she met there was Giles Guthrie, the original cause of all her troubles. Yet, constantly thrown into Giles' company, Caroline found herself, against her will, more and more fascinated by him, and she soon realized that her growing feeling of pleasant affection for Simon Stevens was a pale shadow beside her tempestuous feelings for Giles.
