Nigel Hines is desperate to be a success. He's not sure what at, but pretty much anything will do. Except he feels certain that he doesn't want to be a librarian on a remote South Pacific Island, which is a pity really as that's the only job he's been offered and he's flat broke and rubbish at everything. Oh, and unless he can break the habit of a lifetime and knuckle down to some real work, the lovely Charlotte Chester is going to slip through his fingers and marry someone else.
