When marine biologist Eric Wakefield discovers an unconscious woman in his barn one stormy night, he doesn't want anymore complications in his already harried life. But his annoyance turns to genuine concern when he realizes that the young woman not only doesn't remember how she got to his barn, but she also doesn't know who she is. The only clue to her identity is a necklace with the letters LIN engraved on it.

After "Lin's" picture appears in the local newspaper, someone makes an attempt on her life, and everyone, including Eric, realizes that this vulnerable woman is in serious danger and needs protection. He comes up with the perfect solution--he'll offer a safe haven for "Lin" in return for her services as live-in nanny for Abbie. With nowhere else to go, she readily agrees.

It doesn't take long for the lonely bachelor to fall in love with the pretty blonde. Then one day someone appears with "proof" of who "Lin" really is. Eric must decide whether the woman he loves is who she seems to be, or the pawn in a far more sinister game...
