Returning to Pine Island Sound after four years away at college, Stormy Tide Casey was eager to resume the peaceful life she had always known aboard Pop Casey's houseboat in the Florida Keys. The big, gruff-mannered, tender-hearted fisherman was the only parent Stormy had ever known. Pop had found Stormy as a tiny, squealing infant washed ashore in a rubber raft after a violent hurricane, and he had raised her as his own daughter, instilling in her his love for the sea and its creatures. Stormy had pursued this love with college studies in marine biology, and she was eager to put her knowledge to practical use.

But on her first night home Stormy sensed trouble in her tranquil surroundings. She saw lights flickering among the mangrove trees on nearby Green Turtle Key, an island rich in Indian history that had been unoccupied for years. When Pop jokingly dismissed the lights as Indian "haunts," Stormy was not convinced.

Mild curiosity flared into swift action when she learned that the young so of widowed Ron Seagrist, the excitingly handsome owner of a charter-boat service, had been kidnapped. Convinced that the boy was being held prisoner on Green Turtle Key, Stormy was determined to find him. She wanted so much to please the man who aroused strong new womanly feelings in her.

Equipped with little more than daring, Stormy pointed her small skiff toward the island and set out--for danger.
