Film director James Westbury's stock company consists of an odd assortment of people, amongst them a drug addict, a patient from a mental hospital, a witch and a cripple. Westbury's films are famous because of the troubles and tragedies which plague the making of each one.
For his latest horror movie, Shroud of Evil," he as assembled his cast and crew at an eerie mansion on an old estate overlooking the Hudson River. Mona Warren, a fresh and ingenuous actress, is quartered with the rest of the cast in the very mansion in which they are shooting, a house reputed to have been the scene of a murder and suicide many years ago. The bizarre ambience created by the place and the people presses in on her and she is filled with a gnawing terror. Will she finish the movie and "escape" from the mansion before it becomes her final home?
