Most people would relish the idea of a South Seas cruise, but veterinarian Alex Dragon has mixed feelings about the trip. While the others on board the Southern Cross celebrate the luxurious surroundings and the gorgeous scenery, Alex cannot relax; her uncle has sent her here to seek out information about her cousin Laurie, who disappeared from the ship several months before. The authorities say that Laurie is dead, an apparent suicide. Uncle Angus refuses to believe this, and he enlists Alex's help to find his daughter. Although Alex is not optimistic, she dutifully questions the ship's crew. One of the people she interviews is strikingly handsome Jean-Claude Duval, the cruise's piano player, who immediately steals Alex's heart. But this shipboard romance could be a dangerous game -- what if Johnny is involved in Laurie's disappearance? Trusting the wrong man could prove a fatal mistake!
