She runs the diner; he owns the newsstand. In Hollywood, Florida's quaint Grape Alley, Mandy Martin and Charlie Pinebender have worked side by side for years. There's a door between their stores; they visit back and forth, eat together, share gossip and secrets. Just like a brother and a sister. Oh, except once, years ago, they spent a night together. But that's long forgotten... or is it?

Now, Mandy and Charlie are spending even more time together, helping out a group of wayward teenagers and trying to fight a developer who wants to turn Grape Alley into a high-rise complex. The two old friends see eye to eye on just about everything, especially when it involves hard work and long hours. But when they share a nightcap late one night, something wonderful begins to happen... something that might mean a chance to love again!
