In a tranquil Midwestern suburb, retired filmmaker Leo Mayer is slipping into Alzheimer's, haunted by memories of World War II and of someone named Auggie. Leo's third wife, Shirley, hires a detective to track down the identity behind this cryptic name. But now Shirley is floating facedown in the swimming pool and her P.I. is in the hospital with a concussion.
