Eighteen-year-old Devin Podrick has spent most of his life living a mile below the Nevada desert in a secret government facility known as the Bunker. It is here that he trains tirelessly to become a "tracker," a highly valued government super-soldier whose sole purpose is to travel back in time to kidnap men and women with superpowers known as "shifters," whose super abilities are brought on by special genetic traits. But Devin yearns to break free. When Devin's sensei, Grandmaster Ohayashi discovers that the Bunker's leader, Richard Dunleavy is attempting to capture and own the genetic secrets of every shifter throughout time until they find and kill the very first, the sensei devises a plan to destroy the Pool, the water conduit that is used to create a slipstream in time to the past.

But when their plans thwarted, Devin is sucked into the slipstream and pulled back thousands of years, wherein he comes face to face with the first shifter, the mother of them all. Soon he and a band of allies, spurred by a binding prophecy, must fight to free the last surviving Atlanteans amidst the total destruction of their city.
