In this latest episode of Shannon Sharpe, Detective and Sensitive of the SCPD, we find Shannon's previous partner Keith recuperating from his fight against the minions of Pylas and she is assigned a new partner, Joseph, to instruct her in new police proceedure and her abilities as a strong Sensitive, a talent that allows her to manipuate the threads of Creation itself. However, all is not paradise for our Shannon as she finds this new partner to be of the same cut of cloth as her old partner. One man tendencies with a strong penchant for hot dogging the situation, not to mention keeping her in the dark concering every aspect of the case to the point of putting her sanity and her life in danger. What starts as a simple case of Elvin interference with the introduction of a Golem and missing child, rapidly turns into one of major proportions as it's discovered that almost three dozen children and adults, all with talent, have disappeared and are suspected of being kidnapped by the same entity. By whom or what is not necessarily clear. Only that it appears to be a rogue Mage, bent on using technology forbidden by both Heaven and Hell to further his desire for world conquest. Will they solve the case in time to prevent the interference of Heaven? They must, because when Heaven becomes involved, a great many will perish. If it's one thing the realms have learned over the last fourteen thousand years is to solve their own problems and above all, do not let Heaven become involved for the consequences are always dire. As Shannon and Joseph work their way through the clues provided in the case, Shannon and Frank draw closer together as a couple. Their romance is blosseming into love and the desire for more. To this end, Frank involves himself whole-heartedly into the affairs of the SCPD, not always with their approval. However, he will protect his love at all costs, even if it means losing her. This latest adventure involves traveling to previously unexplored realms and meeting new races. Along the way they pick up Jerry, an Elf and an incorrigible sexist who does not understand, nor is willing to keep his hands to himself. Shannon is forced to not only persue clues but finds fending off Jerry is a full time job in itself. The one thing she learns from their interaction is there is no such thing as a mature Elf. Eventually they find themselves in a life or death situation where the future of the Earth hangs in the balance, along with captive souls about to be torn assunder. Their time is running out and the case must be solved or Heaven will solve it for them and that they must avoid at all costs. That's when Shannon and her crew of crime fighters come into play and make their move. Then on top of that, if you've ever heard 'smack' talked in the face of death, let's simply say you've never heard a captivef Elf when he's angry. It will present a whole new meaning to the words 'Talking sh*t'. In this episode, Shannon's powers continue to mature and grow stronger as she battles conflicting emotions and long-held beliefs about the meaning of life and creation. She finally is forced to face her feelings concerning Frank and wonders if they will eventually become lovers. All that and more in Book 2 of the Sharpe Adventures. Wordcount: 84,153
