Shadow Over Mousehaven Manor — Mary Deball Kwitz

Minabell Mouse is preparing for Christmas when she gets an urgent telegram. She must leave at once for Mousehaven Manor, her family's ancestral home. Her beloved aunt is deathly ill.

As Minabell makes the long and dangerous journey across the Illinois prairie, she meets secret agent Wendell Weasel who advises her to be very careful. The Prairie Pirates, a band of infamous Chicago rats, are in the area.

Minabell tries to watch her step, but no one could have warned her about the dangers in store for her at Mousehaven Manor!
