Three years before Lone Wolfe and Jena are chosen for their mission, they are still adolescent children with strange abilities trying to make their way in life.
Life has a way of biting back. Lone Wolfe has a fever and misses out on an opportunity to make a trip down to see members of his family. That fever ends up saving his life at the cost of the lives of his mother and second cousin. it shatters his family and casts a pall over his summer.

Twins by the name of Robin and Ray find Lone Wolfe and show him another side of life. like him, Robin has wild psychic abilities but she has no love for normal humans as well. Will they change each other for better or worse? Will their circle of friends hold them together or pull them apart.
