Lady Carolyn was still young and lovely even though she had failed to snare a husband during the previous London season. Her family, however, persuaded her to give London another try.

Then a funny thing happened on the way to the big city.

A tall handsome stranger came upon her napping by a stream. He assumed she was a mere servant girl. And because she was irresistibly pretty, he kissed her quite thoroughly, leaving her with a wildly beating heart and no hope of ever seeing him again.
