From The Author I think, like many suspense authors, I write about the things that scare me most. When you read my first novel, SAVAGE ART, due out in August, 2000, you may be surprised to hear that I left in the middle of THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS and barely made it through THE SHINING. Some people ask if I would be able to sit through one of my own books as a movie and the truthful answer is maybe not. My hope is that the real fear with which I feel the situations in my writing will make my characters, their actions and reactions, all the more real for the reader. SAVAGE ART is the result of two years of intensive research and writing. The result, I hope, is a gritty suspense novel about ex-FBI profiler, Casey McKinley, who was brutally attacked by the killer she was profiling. Out in California, Casey thinks she's left the job far behind...until San Francisco Inspector Jordan Gray comes to her with a series of killings that are eerily familiar. My second novel, FAMILIAR STRANGER, is due out July, 2001. And I'm already hard at work on the next one.
