London inquiry agent/troubleshooter John Samson rescues a damsel in distress in the south of France and spends the rest of his vacation regretting his derring-do. The damsel, clingy, kittenish Sophia Maskinos, keeps turning up on the doorstep of the mobile home Samson's borrowing from his sidekick Brandy. Unfortunately, so do the nasty errand boys she insists have been hired by the importer-exporter father she continues to be ambiguously attached to despite the way he beats her, in person and by proxy, and she declares open season on her beaux. Is she a masochist, a nymphomaniac, or a compulsive liar? Readers waiting for the twists and complexities that have long been Tripp's trademark (Video Vengeance, 1990, etc.) will wait in vain.Long even for its modest length, though the scenery on both sides of the bedroom window is a plus.
