Running out of love? Natalie was giving up the big city to carve a life for herself in the wilderness. Would the man she loved wait for her, or would a new romance fill her life? In the American Northwest, there is still free land to be claimed and gold to be panned. Natalie Norris' father, too old to find a new job and dreading idleness and dependence, wanted to make use of the opportunities of the frontier, but he feared loneliness. His daughter, on the other hand, hesitated about leaving her work and her fiance Cal Carter, the office manager of the firm where she was employed. Yet eventually her sense of obligation to her parents overcame her objections and she set forth to help the older couple build a cabin in the wilderness, while she herself staked a claim against the day when Cal would be able to join her as her husband. Natalie learned to cope with nature and the elements, but coping with an absentee sweetheart proved somewhat more difficult.
