The mountain pass was dark and menacing. She brushed a rogue chestnut red curl behind her ear and steeled herself to continue on her way. She held the basket of food and medicine she was carrying for her ailing grandmother closely to her chest. Her mother had given her the warning to stay on this path but the shifting light created dancing shadows among the rocks that startled and frightened her. Pam drew her cloak closer around her shoulders.
