After delivering a herd of prime longhorn cattle to the railhead town of McCoy, and being paid off in gold, Gene Adams and his crew headed back to Texas - a job well done. But soon they were ambushed and were lucky to escape with their lives. Worse still, they discovered their gold had been stolen somewhere along the trail.
