Return to Grace completes the story of the prophet's son, Phinehas, who continues to reap the consequences of his sin, which, as was seen in Sojourn in the Desert, reached far beyond Jerusalem and Judah and into the vast expanses of the Persian Empire. They will also follow him as he struggles with repentance. He understands that men and women have died because he harbored hatred, bitterness and anger in his heart. But what he does not yet know, though his God will show him, is that many more whom he has never known will die and still others will suffer. Especially his daughter, Rachel, whose fate hangs in the balance: if Phinehas repents of his sin, he knows that the Lord his God will save her. But what happens to her if he does not?
