The sight of Rafael de Aguirre makes Evelyn Reid's pulse race. He is accused of murdering the man she had come to the New Mexico Territory to join, and of being the masked renegade who defies the local landowners. Yet in addition to the schoolmaster's dark good looks and seemingly gentle nature, something leaves Evelyn unconvinced of his guilt.
