The next episode of Storm Warrior involves growth, problem-solving, and love. Ghost develops a relationship with Cassandra under her mother's watchful eye. Problems develop in Vallejo when Charles' rights of ownership are challenged. Charles is angry with the slow progress of construction and has harsh words with Bud Bulger. A problem with the Indians regarding the railroad must be addressed in Idaho. Charles takes his two best horses to New Orleans to test their stamina and speed. The Civil War ends, but much anger still prevails in the southern states towards northerners.
